WWE Backlash was a huge event in Puerto Rico. Bad Bunny defeated Damian Priest in a San Juan Street Fight match that tore the house down. That match needed some extra help, and we know that Brian Kendrick was there.
Shortly after the Backlash premium live event, a report came out saying Brian Kendrick was involved in the planning of the San Juan Street Fight between Bad Bunny and Damian Priest. He came in as a guest producer to help put the match together with Jamie Nobel.
During a recent episode of the Hitting The Turnbuckle podcast, Brian Kendrick confirmed the details of the report. He shared that he was brought in specifically to assist with training Bunny for the Backlash match due to his prior experience working with Bunny during his WWE debut at WrestleMania 37.
“It was for the Bad Bunny and Damian Priest match. The company brought me in, but it was because a few years back when they had their tag match, I worked with them. I think because of the comfort level we had built with Bunny and I, they requested me to come back for that.”
Brian Kendrick and Bad Bunny might know each other, but the former WWE Superstar hasn’t met Logan Paul. Perhaps that will be possible someday, because rumors about Bad Bunny vs Logan Paul seem to be growing.
“Yeah, I haven’t met Logan but I think both of them are very motivated. They want to be good at this. I know Bunny put in a lot of training, he was training for months. I thought the match was awesome.”
Brian Kendrick has a lot of knowledge about pro wrestling, and his assistance can be a great asset to any company. Sadly, some controversial comments he once made about the Holocaust came back to cost him work with AEW, but it didn’t keep him from working with Bad Bunny and Damian Priest.
We will have to see how long it takes for Brian Kendrick to find his way back to WWE, but he was certainly a big help for Backlash.
