Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is a legendary name in the world of professional wrestling and maintains a strong connection to the industry despite his flourishing career in Hollywood. He has done it all as far as being a pro wrestler is concerned, making a mark in WWE. Now it appears that The Rock explained how pro wrestling saved his relationship with his daughter.
The Rock is a third generation pro wrestler, being the son of Rocky Johnson and grandson of High Chief Peter Maivia. The Rock’s daughter Simone Johnson is part of WWE now as well, something that he is proud of.
Simone Johnson currently competes in WWE NXT as Ava. She is 21 years old and has a bright future ahead of her. She made her in-ring debut at Stand and Deliver in April and has been a mainstay of NXT as part of Schism ever since.
While speaking with The Pivot, The Rock talked about his relationship with his daughter Simone Johnson. The Rock recalled how he was never there for her growing up due to his busy schedule. He then revealed how pro wrestling brought him closer to his daughter.
“So when I had Simone, I was flying by the seat of my pants. I was wrestling full-time, I started transitioning into movies full-time. I had so much s*** going on so I like to say me and Simone grew up together. So we had a relationship where I was always gone but we tried to keep it together. Now, years later, as she becomes a pro wrestler, it’s actually brought us closer together. So in a way, it’s helped save that relationship too so, in many ways, pro wrestling has been my family’s savior.”
The Rock is proud of how much his daughter has already grown in NXT so far. We will have to wait and see how Ava will be booked in the coming weeks.
