Former NXT star Bobby Fish has denied rumors that he attempted to lure Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly to WWE when he left AEW earlier this year.

In an exclusive interview with Inside The Ropes, Fish hit back at the speculation, which emerged after he left AEW, just as Triple H assumed creative control of WWE.

Fish argued that fans’ desire to know “the dirt” has created controversy where there really isn’t any. He specifically called out journalist Dave Meltzer and his team for spreading false information.

“Meltzer’s people at one point released some leak about me when I left AEW trying to get Kyle [O’Reilly] and Adam [Cole] to come to WWE, and that is accepted at this point as like gospel, and there’s no truth to it whatsoever…The desire to know, the perceived dirt is such that fiction becomes fact. I’ve been victim of that more than once.”

Fish left AEW in February 2023 after a short stint with the company. He is a former NXT Tag Team Champion and has also competed in New Japan Pro Wrestling. While he denied any plans to return to WWE, Fish did express interest in working with Ring of Honor and other promotions in the future.
