Miro worked in WWE under the name of Rusev. During his time in Vince McMahon’s company, Miro simply did not have a very memorable run for the majority of his time there. Now it appears that even Road Dogg admitted that he dropped the ball with one particular storyline featuring Miro.

Miro got over organically with fans and WWE didn’t like that. The company would ruin his character by involving him in nonsensical feuds such as the love triangle storyline with his real-life wife Lana and Bobby Lashley.

‘Rusev Day’ was very over in WWE, as Rusev and Aiden English’s pairing proved to be a major draw in the company. However, WWE did not see it that way and ended up killing their momentum.

Back in Backlash 2018, the storyline saw a big twist as Lana reunited with Rusev and implied that Aiden English was holding him back from greatness. English turned heel on Rusev and ended the angle for good.

While speaking on his Oh…You Didn’t Know podcast, Road Dogg, who was the lead writer for Smackdown at the time, talked about the aforementioned storyline involving Rusev. Dogg admitted that he dropped the ball with the storyline.

It’s one of the things that I, don’t want to say regret, but when the conversation comes up about Rusev and Lana, I feel like they slipped between my fingers..

I dropped that ball. I liked Aiden English with them, too. That’s one of the things that, if I could go back and do it differently, I would try to.”

The iron was hot. [But] to say we didn’t strike is not true, because we wrote it. We wrote the Rusev Day segment that started it all. We wrote it in a way for it to be a thing. And when it became one, we just didn’t continue with it. Look, that’s a failure, but it’s just a creative failure in pro wrestling.”

Miro was so excited about being released by WWE that he did cartwheels. Miro is still on hiatus from AEW television and fans wonder if he will ever come back. Till then, all fans can do is wait and hope for the best.
