AEW President Tony Khan announced on Twitter that AEW All In at Wembley Stadium has sold over 60,000 tickets so far, following the general ticket sale on Friday, May 5.
This unprecedented achievement is causing a stir in the wrestling community, and it may even tempt a retired AEW name to step back into the ring one more time.
In response to Khan’s announcement, ROH commentator and UK wrestling legend Nigel McGuinness hinted at a return to the ring if the tickets continue to sell for the August 27 show.
“Yikes – I think I said if it sells out, I might just have to dust off the old boots,” McGuinness tweeted.
The former ROH World Champion hasn’t competed in the ring since late 2011. After deciding not to return to the ring, McGuinness eventually joined WWE in 2016, where he worked as a color commentator for the NXT and NXT UK brands.
Following his exit in October 2022, McGuinness officially became All Elite on April 5, signing on to provide commentary once again. This came after his return to Ring of Honor, a promotion he has a lot of history with.
While McGuinness’ tweet may have been made in jest, it has sparked rumors that he could be considering a return to the ring. With impressive ticket sales, AEW All In at Wembley Stadium is sure to be a monumental event for the wrestling world, and it will be exciting to see what surprises may be in store for fans.
