Karrion Kross just didn’t work out on the WWE main roster with his first gimmick. Vince McMahon put a gladiator helmet on the former NXT Champion and expected him to get that over. That led to Kross and Scarlett’s release as a pair, even though she never made her way to the main roster with her husband.

Triple H brought both Karrion Kross and Scarlett back, but things haven’t been amazing during that second run either. Even in Puerto Rico, where fans were the hottest you can get, Kross didn’t draw much of a reaction.

During the Wrestling Binge, Dutch Mantel unloaded on Karrion Kross’ current character. The ticktock act just isn’t working for Dutch.

I don’t think he is going to advance because there is nothing really to advance at this point. That ticktock sh*t ain’t getting it. “Tick tock, okay we get it! But, there is something missing there, and there is no intrigue about him; there is no nothing. Sid, do you agree? He doesn’t excite me! No!”

“Karrion Kross, I’ve said it from the beginning, but there’s something missing! Totally missing! When he does his interviews, I don’t feel anything,” Mantell continued. “I mean, the girl, she has more interest than he does.”

Dutch Mantel went on to bury Karrion Kross’ program with Shinsuke Nakamura. The two battled in Puerto Rico on SmackDown, and gave it their all, but it is apparent that Kross needs something extra to make him work on the main roster.

“And they went to the ring with Nakamura, and neither one of them, like, advances the needle. But you said Karrion Kross needs something; he needed something tonight, but he didn’t get it, which I think is very telling.”

Karrion Kross is not booked for a match at Backlash, or Night of Champions. Only time will tell how long it takes for him to get to a point where WWE will give him a pay-per-view match that matters. Right now, his character needs some serious work, because something just isn’t clicking.

This is strange, because Karrion Kross was a huge deal in NXT under Triple H’s creative direction. Apparently, not everything translates to RAW and SmackDown the same way it was received in the WWE Performance Center.
