Brock Lesnar is a very valuable name to have on your roster, and this year the Beast Incarnate is not bound to any one brand. Lesnar has been a free agent in WWE before, which means he can benefit both of WWE’s main roster shows, but was that always the plan this year?

Brock Lesnar was picked as a free agent during night two of the 2023 WWE Draft. His name joins many others, including Omos, on the free agent list. Three are arguably more free agents now than there ever have been in the past.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer brought up Brock Lesnar’s situation. He said that it appears WWE changed their plan around for Brock Lesnar sometime in the day prior to the WWE Draft kicking off hit week.
I don’t know if it’s one of those things, because he was supposed to be picked on today’s show, and then they announce at the beginning of the show that he’s not eligible to be picked, because he’s gonna do whatever he wants. It seems like that was a change, but this year he was advertised to be picked by one brand or another.
Brock Lesnar as a free agent is the right way to go, because he will be able to draw a viewership number on both of WWE’s main roster shows throughout the year. USA Network and FOX also have to be happy about the fact that they’re sharing him rather than one network getting every Lesnar appearance.
We’ll have to see if word comes out later on that Brock Lesnar’s plans for the WWE Draft changed around this year. In the meantime, he will continue preparing for his match against Cody Rhodes at Backlash on May 6th.
What’s your take on this situation with Brock Lesnar’s WWE status? Does he make a better free agent? Sound off in the comments!
