Orlando is vying to host the Royal Rumble in 2024 and is willing to pay a hefty sum to secure the event.
According to a report by WESH 2, the Tourist Development Tax Sports Incentive Committee will request $850,000 for the Greater Orlando Sports Commission to bid on hosting the 2024 Royal Rumble. The bid is set to be made on Tuesday, May 2.
The event is proposed to be held at Camping World Stadium on January 27, 2024, if the bid is successful.
Orange County officials estimate that attendance for the Royal Rumble could reach 54,000, and generate an economic impact of around $28 million for the region. In the event that the bid is unsuccessful, the funds will be returned.
Camping World Stadium has already hosted a WrestleMania event in the past. WrestleMania 33, which took place in 2017, generated $181 million for the region.
The 2023 Royal Rumble was held at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, and the event was a major success for the city.
The Royal Rumble is one of WWE’s biggest annual events, and features a 30-man or 30-woman battle royal match, with the winner earning a championship opportunity at WrestleMania. The event is typically held in January and is one of the most highly anticipated events on the WWE calendar.
