WWE fans eagerly await Gable Steveson’s pro-wrestling debut, but before that, the Olympic gold medalist made a triumphant return to amateur wrestling.
Steveson returned to the US Men’s Freestyle Open in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he outscored his opponents 44-1 to advance to the Final X in Newark, NJ, in May.
In the semi-final bout, Steveson faced stand-out wrestler Mason Parris, outscoring him 12-1. A clip of the match has been circulating online, which has only increased the excitement for his eventual WWE in-ring debut.
Steveson previously expressed his desire to represent Team USA at the 2024 Olympic Games, and his recent return to amateur wrestling suggests that he’s serious about achieving this goal.
The WWE signee signed with the company in September 2021 and was drafted to the RAW brand in October of that year. While he had a brief physical confrontation with former Olympian Chad Gable at WrestleMania 38 in April 2022, Steveson has yet to wrestle for WWE.
In a recent interview, he revealed that he expects to make his pro-wrestling debut ‘really, really soon’ following WrestleMania 39.
As of now, this year’s WWE Draft is currently in effect, with proceedings kicking off on the April 28 edition of SmackDown. Fans are excited to see where Steveson will end up and who he will eventually face in the ring.
