Mercedes Mone walked out of WWE and found her way to NJPW. That stint in Japan saw her carry the company’s Women’s Championship, but she’s not bound to anything that will keep her there for the long haul at all.
After signing an extension that will see her wrestle for NJPW through May, Mercedes Mone is going to work, at least, one more match for the company. That being said, it doesn’t seem like she is going to stick around after that.
Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that Mercedes Mone enjoyed her time in Japan, and her relationship with the company is a positive one, but she’s “not anchored” to them.
NJPW sources tell us they’re hopeful that they can continue working with Mercedes Mone. We’re told thus far the relationship has been a positive one, though she’s not anchored to anything long term.
Mercedes Mone might have an open door to enter into talks with AEW or even WWE if she wishes. She certainly has a few people that she could call to get her in touch with the right people.
Whether Mercedes Mone goes back to WWE, ventures to AEW, or goes into acting full-time, it’s unlikely that her attitude will change. Hopefully, her fans will be there with her every step of the way.
