As several contracts in AEW are set to expire by the end of 2023, WWE is reportedly keeping an eye on negotiations. According to Fightful, the Young Bucks and MJF both have contracts that are set to expire on January 1, 2024.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer commented on the subject, stating that WWE will be pursuing key contracts that are up for renewal. While Meltzer did not name specific individuals that WWE may be interested in, MJF has previously expressed his belief that there would be a bidding war in 2024.
“There are AEW contracts that are coming due at the end of the year. Several of them. Many of them, and WWE obviously will be pursuing all of them, or all the ones that are key ones that they could get.”
It also previously reported that Jim Ross’ contract is set to expire at the “start of 2024”. Meanwhile, Sting has previously revealed that his current AEW contract will expire in 2023.
As AEW continues to grow and establish itself as a competitor to WWE, it’s not surprising that WWE would be interested in acquiring talent from their rival. However, it remains to be seen which AEW contracts WWE will actively pursue and if any talent will make the jump to WWE.
For now, fans will have to wait and see how negotiations play out and if any major moves will be made in the world of professional wrestling.
