Chris Benoit was known for his abilities in the ring during his life, and he wasn’t one to be messed with. Although the tragedy surrounding his death is the thing that fans seem to gravitate toward, there are many more stories to tell. Raven recently shared an encounter with Benoit, and things were quite heated.
Chris Benoit made quite an impression on a lot of people during his career. A lot of wrestlers have different stories about the Wolverine, and Raven had quite a story to tell as well.
While speaking on Jake Roberts’ Snake Pit podcast, Raven recalled a story about Chris Benoit. He said that Chris Benoit didn’t want to be friends with his opponents, and this caused a bit of a problem at first.
“He likes to not be friends with his opponents, especially if they’re working a program like that, because then he doesn’t feel guilty or anything for chopping the crap out of them and beating the crap out of them because his chops are brutal. I finally cornered him one night. I was like, ‘Why don’t you like me?’ He goes, ‘It’s not that I don’t like you,’ and he explained what I just said, and ever since that we were totally cool.”
Chris Benoit was one of the best pro wrestlers on the planet at the time of his death. That tragedy was one of the hardest to take in the history of pro wrestling. Even though his life ended in such tragic fashion, it’s hard to ignore how good Benoit was in the ring.
Raven’s story about Chris Benoit also illustrates just how serious Chris Benoit was about pro wrestling. There could be more stories about Chris Benoit to tell, but it’s hard to think about him in any context without acknowledging the terrible way his life ended.
