Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that the backstage buzz is that Triple H’s announcement tonight on RAW will be to introduce a new title into the company. While this hasn’t been confirmed, that is the heaviest rumor going around at the present moment.

One widely speculated element is that a new title belt is fully prepared and could be introduced as soon as tonight’s WWE Raw. It hasn’t been specified if it’s a new design, or a completely new title.

It was also noted that WWE has not returned a request for comment. With Night of Champions coming up, that could be a good opportunity to introduce a new title into the mix. The big question is what kind of title this will be and how they will crown their first champion.

Then again, this new title belt could just be a new design. That would be cool, but it wouldn’t have the same gravity as introducing a brand new title belt into the picture for WWE.

WWE currently has a strange situation with their title belts. Both the singes and tag team titles are unified with two separate brands. Fans have called for the company to split their titles for a while now. Let’s see if it finally happens.

WWE Backlash will go down in Puerto Rico on May 6th followed by Night of Champions on May 27th in Saudi Arabia. Either of those nights could see matches that move us closer toward a new champion. It was previously reported that the direction of Night of Champions will be made very clear at Backlash.

What’s your take on WWE splitting up the titles or introducing a new one? Sound off in the comments!
