Big E suffered a broken neck after a released German suplex did not go off as planned. That drastic injury stopped his career, and the former WWE Champion hasn’t been able to compete since. Fans will have to keep waiting for that day to come.
Although Big E did not require surgery after his injury, he hasn’t been able to wrestle. The New Day member was also working out in the gym weeks after suffering that broken neck, but his spirit was never broken.
A story is making the rounds that WWE is drumming up ideas for Big E’s return to the ring. Several outlets picked up WRKD Wrestling’s report saying that, “one long term backstage pitch has seen Xavier Woods and a fully healed Big E and Kofi Kingston feuding with Imperium once the New Day are ready to return.”
Ringside News reached out to confirm this story, because it could be huge if true. Sadly, we were told this booking idea isn’t on the table at all.
A tenured member of the WWE creative team told us that, “if Big E can ever return, the writing team has not been officially informed yet.” Therefore, this reported “pitched” idea about the New Day’s reunion is not legitimate.
We can only hope that WWE has some plan for Big E if he can ever wrestle again. We’re still waiting for his return to the ring, but the company was able to keep Big E busy. He’s traveling a lot more now, and making WWE tryouts. Only time will tell what uses WWE finds for Big E along the way.
