A rare and unique WWE trading card featuring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has sold for a whopping $126,000, making it the most expensive WWE card ever sold. The card is a 2022 Panini Prizm WWE Black Prizm parallel, which is part of the first Panini WWE Prizm trading card set ever released after Panini acquired the exclusive rights to produce WWE trading cards in 2022, ending Topps’ two decade run.
What makes the card so special is that it is the only one of its kind in the word, making it extremely scarce and desirable for collectors.
The card was graded by Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) as a Near Mint 7, meaning it has no major flaws or defects. It was sold by PWCC Marketplace, a leading platform for trading cards and memorabilia, on Thursday Night.
“This is arguably the best WWE trading card in existence. Cards like this rarely surface for public sale since they are so scarce. And when scarcity outweighs public demand, you see record prices. This was the perfect combination to drive that demand,” Jesse Craig, Vice President of Sales at PWCC, said of the sale.
The Previous record for the highest-selling WWE card was held by a 1982 Hulk Hogan rookie card, which sold for $51,600 in August 2022. The Rock’s card more than doubled that amount, showing how much his popularity and legacy have grown over the years.
The card features a holographic image of The Rock delivering his signature Rock Bottom to his longtime rival “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. The two superstars were the biggest stars of WWE’s Attitude Era and clashed at three WrestleMania shows. The Rock, of course, went on to become a mega Hollywood star while Steve Austin returned to the ring at WrestleMania 38.
Given how much these rare trading cards can sell for, it wouldn’t be a surprise if another extremely rare trading card breaks this record. Until then, stay tuned to Ringside News.
