WWE Superstars’ names can make or break their character. It seems that Vince McMahon had his own logic about picking the monikers for his talent, and he also made some rather confusing choices along the way.
Fandango is no longer with WWE, but the Impact Wrestling star remembers his run with Vince McMahon’s company fondly. There were some highs and lows, but the first time he was handed that ring name was an entirely different experience.
While speaking to Wrestling News, Fandango was asked about his unique name. His character in WWE was never related to the popular movie theater ticket selling service, but that didn’t stop WWE Superstars from trolling him a little bit at first.
“Let me ask you a question. Do you think Vincent Kennedy McMahon knows what the Fandango app is?” Hussey said. “There’s no way in hell. … Everyone in the locker room [was] like, ‘Dude, are you … going to throw out movie tickets when you go out?'”
Fandango made his WWE gimmick work, and he was with the company for a very long run. He was also able to re-invent himself a couple of times along the way as well.
Fandango went from a dancer to a member of the Fashion Files to a serious competitor in NXT prior to his release. Only time will tell what’s next for him, but he didn’t change his name along the way until WWE called him about his release from the company.
Do you think Fandango is a good name for a pro wrestler? Is Dirty Dango any better? Sound off in the comments!
