WWE is gearing up for another draft, and you never know where Superstars could end up when the dust settles. Fans might even see a few brand-new names added to the main roster, but WWE strategically timed their annual draft event this time.
As announced on SmackDown last week, this year’s WWE Draft will get started on the April 28th episode of SmackDown and finish up on the May 1st episode of Monday Night Raw. That only gives fans a few weeks left with the current rosters.
Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that the dates for the 2023 WWE Draft were not an accident. After all, the 2023 NFL Draft is set to go down on April 27th.
Those that we spoke to said that scheduling the WWE Draft was around the NFL Draft was “not an accident.”
WWE Superstars are still in the dark regarding plans for this year’s WWE Draft. That being said, this is nothing out of ordinary. WWE likes to capture organic reactions as names are called during the WWE Draft every year, so they usually only tell top talent, if anyone, about their draft destinations.
Ringside News exclusively reproted that Vince McMahon has had no say in the 2023 Draft yet. Then again, it’s still his company, so Mr. McMahon could always swoop in whenever he wants and switch things up. We also exclusively reported that the 2023 WWE Draft had no bearing on Vince McMahon’s return to the company, or vice versa.
We will have to see how the chips fall when the 2023 WWE Draft is over. After all, it is always exciting to see how WWE will put a fresh coat of paint on things. Keep checking back with Ringside News for constant updates.
