Jimmy Hart might be best known for his loudmouth persona, as he carried a microphone to the ring and shouted at the crowd and his clients in the ring. He was also involved in other areas of the business, and his musical efforts are still getting him paid.
During a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, Jimmy Hart discussed a part of his contributions to the pro wrestling world that many might not realize. Hart entered pro wrestling from a background in music. It turns out that he is still getting paid for some of the songs he wrote.
“We do [still get royalties]. The thing too, it’s like here’s what’s so strange … when we [him and Hogan] went to WCW, I did a lot of the music. Eric Bischoff signed us to be part of the music too.”
Jimmy Hart wrote the music for the WCW Nitro Girls, Jeff Jarrett, and Eddie Guerrero. Then when WWE purchased WCW in 2001, all those songs came with them. Sadly, WWE has found no use for them due to some ownership issues.
“All those songs, when WWE bought the tapes to all that, they re-dubbed other incidental songs on that. They never used any of those songs that we wrote when they put those tapes out.”
Jimmy Hart is a WWE Hall of Famer for a reason. His contributions to the pro wrestling world cannot be understated as well. It turns out that he is also getting cash for all of those things he brought to the pro wrestling world as well, which is not a bad deal at all.
We’ll have to see what’s next for Jimmy Hart. He hasn’t lost his energy in the slightest, so you never know if another run could be in his future as WWE continues to lean on nostalgia even more.
