AEW President Tony Khan is very passionate about pro wrestling and has been handling numerous roles in the company since its inception in 2019. That being said, he has quite a few detractors now who aren’t fans of his booking decisions as of late. With CM Punk’s AEW return inevitable and Goldberg still a free agent, it appears that Tony Khan has been dared to book Punk vs Goldberg for the upcoming AEW All In event.
As fans are well aware by now, WWE Hall Of Famer Eric Bischoff is someone who does hold grudges – as his very public spat with the likes of Tony Khan and CM Punk are very well known.
Reports have suggested that AEW is in the process of bringing back CM Punk to the company. Punk has been absent since the infamous brawl that took place at All Out last year and his status remained in question for a very long time.
While speaking on an episode of Strictly Business, Eric Bischoff talked about AEW possibly booking CM Punk for the upcoming All In event at Wembley Stadium in August. Bischoff stated that it would be preferred if AEW did not include Punk in the event. That said, Bischoff would then go on to challenge Tony Khan to book CM Punk vs Goldberg for the event.
“I think Wembley’s gonna do great, with or without Punk. I would prefer, if I was Tony Khan, to do it without Punk. Because that makes a real statement, right? Who drew the house? Did AEW draw the house, or did CM Punk draw the house? … I would absolutely not book CM Punk on that show, even though I would know that doing so would ensure more sales. I wouldn’t do it. I wouldn’t sell my soul to that piece of garbage.”
“Book CM Punk and Bill Goldberg. You want to book something that’s gonna sell out Wembley? Book that. Bill Goldberg’s last match, against CM Punk. Dare you. Dare you. Grab your balls, TK.”
Tony Khan is also paying close attention to Goldberg’s free agent status. We’ll have to wait and see whether Tony Khan will accept Eric Bischoff’s challenge and book CM Punk vs Goldberg for All In.
