WWE and UFC are merging and that could change a lot with the world. Now, we will have to look at the future and see exactly what the two companies will do after that groundbreaking announcement.
During a recent episode of 83 Weeks, Eric Bischoff brought up Endeavor’s merger of the UFC and WWE and how he believes everything will play out internally. Obviously, a merger will bring cost-cutting measures to reduce redundancies.
“Will there be cost cuts? Of course there will, because there’s a lot of duplication.”
“This is a guess, I suspect that there’ll be more layoffs … within UFC than there probably will be in WWE. I say that because WWE is a very sophisticated, mature business compared to UFC.”
Eric Bischoff went on to say that, “[WWE is] probably as sophisticated as any other media company out there, including Disney and some of the other ones.”
Eric Bischoff later went on to speak on this situation a bit more, and he also believes that UFC will see a lot more firings than WWE due to the merger. “I think there’s going to be layoffs — I know there will be — but I think the majority of them are going to come on the UFC side as opposed to the WWE side. I’d be more concerned if I was working for UFC right now, than if I was working for WWE.”
We will have to see how this shake-up changes UFC and WWE’s corporate landscape. Obviously, there are a lot of moving pieces to put together, but they have time before the TKO stock goes live on Wall Street.
