AEW has brought in a few former WWE Superstars, and they each have their own journey in pro wrestling. FTR was able to escape Vince McMahon’s booking where they were humiliated on a regular basis, as Tony Khan has truly created a main event act out of the former Revival.
Although FTR dropped their load of championship titles, they are still a big deal whenever their music hits. Tony Khan has also afforded them a much better schedule, something that Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler certainly treasure.
During his interview with Uproxx, Dax Harwood explained that he believes Tony Khan gets FTR far better than Vince McMahon ever did. This change in outlook also helps them connect with fans on another level.
“I think that Tony (Khan) gets Dax and Cash, FTR, better than Vince. I think he understands that we are average, everyday human beings that just caught on with the fans because they can relate to us, because we’re either family men or just regular human beings.
We just enjoy physicality, and we enjoy fighting, and I think that they can live their lives through us. (Vince has) a business track record that proves that he is obviously very intelligent to the business, but I think he thinks he knows what the Revival was better than we did. That’s why he came up with all those cartoon costumes he gave us. In contrast, Tony understands that no one knows who we are better than us, and no one can display our characters or show our characteristics better than we can.”
FTR made a career for themselves in the squared circle, but they are also known to pop off at the mouth outside the ring. This is just another instance in a long line of Dax Harwood calling attention to himself by speaking his own truth. Only time will tell how many share his outlook on things.
Vince McMahon and Tony Khan certainly have a different way of going about things. FTR is just another example of how TK and Vince differed, because the Top Guys are certainly presented as a bigger act in AEW, and it is working.
What’s your take on this situation with FTR in AEW? Do you think Tony Khan gets them more? Sound off in the comments!
