Edge Explains How Terrible Accident Led To His WWE Return

Edge made his return to WWE after nearly a decade out of the ring. This made for a big Royal Rumble surprise moment, but the Rated R Superstar has a terrible accident to thank for that return to action.

Edge did not just sit around the house in his WWE retirement. He stayed in great shape and worked as much as he possibly could. This included stints on Vikings and other acting projects.

The Rated R Superstar also kept up with some of his WWE family, like Sheamus. The two did one of Sheamus’ Celtic Warrior Workout videos, and that is where this terrible accident took place.

As Edge was talking to the Toronto Sun, he explained how taking a really hard fall off a mountain bike while filming Sheamus’ YouTube series led to his WWE comeback. This was a painful way to go about things, but the message was heard loud and clear.

“He (Sheamus) came up for the Celtic Warrior workouts and I got him out on a mountain bike and took him on this nice trail that had some jumps,” Edge said. “I’m cooking and my brother-in-law’s behind me with the GoPro and I hit this one jump that had been rained out a little bit, but I hadn’t done it since before we’d had a lot of rain. Instead of a nice slope, it was like boom, straight up. I went ‘uh-oh.’ ”

Thankfully, Edge was able to make it back to the ring, and he is still enjoying that second wave in WWE. That being said, Edge’s contract might be ticking down, but at least he had an amazing journey through his second stint in Vince McMahon’s company.

Edge’s first run in WWE ended prematurely, and it wasn’t his call. Hopefully, he will be able to retire on his own terms this time around.
