WWE’s yearly draft specials give the company a chance to present the RAW and SmackDown rosters with a fresh coat of paint. They have exhibited a pattern for their annual draft shows in recent years, but this year is different all around.

This year is different around WWE for many reasons. The most important of those reasons is the fact that Endeavor is now the new parent company. With WWE and UFC preparing a merge, a draft might not be the best timed situation right now.

Sean Sapp reported behind Fightful’s paywall that WWE moved plans for a draft “late last year.” At this time, there is no new draft date set. Talent who have asked about a draft were told that it will be moved to an “undetermined time in 2023.”

The WWE Draft was set to happen late last year, but then got moved.

A draft that would have effectively reset the rosters for the new Triple H regime was rumored late last year, however talent were told that it was being moved to an undetermined time in 2023. However, Fightful Select can confirm that unanimously across over a dozen talent on the WWE roster have not been told that a WWE Draft is coming, or when it could even be.

It was also noted that there “were numerous WWE talent that said that in discussing it with others, that they ‘just assume it would happen after WrestleMania.’ That is not the case, even if the WWE Draft typically happens around that time.

The report stated that, “as of Friday afternoon, talent still hadn’t been told about one.” This is an interesting situation, especially since television rights deals are coming up.

In the past, sources at both Fox and USA Network had told Fightful that they primarily prefer distinctly different and separate rosters in order to specialize their investment. However, since the Triple H regime took shape, we’ve heard much less of that.

USA Network and FOX have also been in on Draft talks in the past. Each network has talent that they would like to exclusively land. The roster seems to be staying the way it is right now, with no sign of anybody jumping to another brand as part of a draft situation.

What’s your take on this situation with the WWE Draft? Do you want them to mix up the rosters again? Sound off in the comments!
