With WrestleMania 39 now in the rearview mirror, rumors are swirling that WWE may be interested in signing former WWE Champion Christian Cage, who is currently a top star for AEW.

Christian has been impressing many with his stellar performances in AEW, including matches against Kenny Omega, Jungle Boy, and Adam Cole. This has reportedly caught the attention of WWE, who may be interested in bringing Christian back to the company where he made a name for himself.

Christian has a long history with WWE, and his friend and former tag team partner Edge is very keen on teaming up with him again before he retires from the ring for good, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The two stars last shared the ring together at the 2021 Royal Rumble, where they had a memorable embrace. However, Christian is still under contract with AEW and it’s currently unknown exactly when his contract with the promotion expires.

Behind-the-scenes there was talk of Edge and Christian wanting to team together for one last time or run but we don’t know Christian’s contract length and if it would be possible.

It remains to be seen if WWE will be successful in their attempts to sign Christian, but it would certainly be a major coup for the company if they were able to bring him back into the fold.

With Edge’s feud with Balor now seemingly over, WWE fans will be eagerly anticipating what’s next for The Rated-R Superstar. And if rumors of Christian’s potential return to WWE prove to be true, the company could be on the cusp of a major shake-up in the world of professional wrestling.

What do you think about the rumors of WWE trying to sign former WWE Champion Christian Cage, who is currently a top star for AEW? Would you like to see Christian return to WWE, or do you think he should stay with AEW? Leave a comment.
