Roman Reigns is still the head of the table after WrestleMania 39, where he defeated Cody Rhodes to retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Title. His story will continue from this point on, but he won’t wrestle at the company’s next pay-per-view.
Backlash is WWE’s next pay-per-view event on May 6th. The show is a big one for Puerto Rico as San Juan will get their first show in a very long time. That being said, the Tribal Chief won’t be making the trip.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter dropped a note in the latest issue about Roman Reigns. It was reported that Reigns will not be on the Backlash card, but he will wrestle again over the next few months.
Reigns will not be on the San Juan card, or at least that wasn’t the plan on Monday, but he will be doing other major events over the next few months.
With Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar being the hot angle coming off the RAW after WrestleMania, only time will tell what they book for WrestleMania Backlash. It’s possible that the Bloodline will still be represented, but the card will be constructed without Roman Reigns.
Roman Reigns was rumored to get some time off after WrestleMania, and then he retained his Undisputed WWE Universal Title at the showcase of the immortals. While some assumed this meant he will continue, it also might call for a little break as well. Only time will tell who steps up to Roman Reigns next, but he won’t be wrestling at Backlash.
