FTR’s AEW future was up in the air for a very long time and that led to a lot of discussions and speculation. Many fans even felt that they were returning to WWE after three years. Of course, that didn’t happen as FTR became the tag team champions on Dynamite this week. Dax Harwood has now revealed that FTR never wanted to return to WWE.

After being underutilized on the WWE main roster, FTR was granted their release in 2020, which led them to sign with AEW. FTR ended up having a stellar run so far, where they eventually won gold in AEW, ROH, AAA, and NJPW.
The main event of AEW Dynamite this week saw the Gunns nearly winning thanks to their underhanded tactics. However, FTR managed to outsmart the Gunns and won the match, thus becoming the new AEW Tag Team Champions.
With their future in AEW fully secure, Dax Harwood took to Twitter and essentially revealed that FTR never had any intention of ever returning to Vince McMahon’s company because of the grueling schedule WWE requires.
“GIVE US THE BELTS OR WE’RE GOING BACK TO WWE!”
Definitely not “That schedule keeps me away from my wife and daughter too much & AEW will allow us to give back to wrestling.”
Dax Harwood also took a huge shot at Vince McMahon after AEW Dynamite concluded this week. We will have to wait and see how FTR will be booked as the AEW Tag Team Champions, as it is clear they will not return to WWE.
