Brian Cage’s deal with Tony Khan is ain interesting one, and it got even more intriguing when The Embassy retained the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Titles at ROH Supercard of Honor. While some assumed that his deal with Tony Khan was back on, that doesn’t seem to be the case.
According to a new report from Fightful’s paywall, Brian Cage is still a free agent. His deal with Tony Khan ran up, and he retained those titles hours before his deal expired.
It was further noted that his AEW/ROH contract expired at midnight after ROH Supercard of Honor. That being said, there is a long-term and a short-term deal on the table if he chooses to stay.

Fightful Select has learned that Brian Cage’s agreement to work with AEW/ROH expired at midnight following ROH Supercard of Honor. Originally, his deal was set to be up before that, but he agreed to work through the show.
All Elite Wrestling not only has a long-term contract on the table for Cage, but we’re told there were attempts at a short-term extension to discuss a longer-term contract. When Fightful asked Tony Khan after Supercard of Honor, he stated that he wanted Brian Cage to remain with AEW for a long time. We’re told that productive conversations have occurred between the two sides, and conversations are ongoing.
It was also noted that, “there have been attempts from ROH/AEW to extend Cage’s deal due to injury time, as he was sidelined when they first signed him, but Cage pushed back on that.” There were also reportedly “powerful names in AEW” who wanted Brian Cage to re-sign.
Interestingly enough, it was also noted that there are “powerful members of the WWE roster who were hoping he’d end up” with Vince McMahon’s company. Right now, WWE might be on a hiring freeze with the new merger, but it’s always possible to make exceptions.
We’ll have to see what’s going on with Brian Cage in a couple of months. Obviously, as 1/3 of a championship team, he has a bit of leverage in the situation. For more information, keep checking back with us at Ringside News.
