WWE is going through a big change, and that will include a huge shift as the company merges with the UFC. It seems that one NXT tag team is also looking to switch things up.
NXT has some of the best Superstars of tomorrow, but they don’t have time for everyone on television. That being said, one NXT tag team wants out of their deals.
Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that the former Grizzled Young Veterans want out of their deals. They have asked for their releases from the company.
This is a big deal for NXT, because the company is putting a lot of attention into the Schism faction, which features Jagger Reid and Rip Fowler along with Ava and Joe Gacy.
Fightful can confirm that the former Grizzled Young Vets, Jagger Reid and Rip Fowler have requested their releases from WWE. They’ve been involved with Schism of late on NXT.
We haven’t heard a reason why they’ve asked for their releases, but they’re expected to announce themselves shortly as well. The duo has been in NXT for over three years.
Both men are veterans of over a decade, and are expected to be in demand on the US indie scene, in addition to the UK.
It was noted that the outlet cannot “speak to their visa situation, but generally there’s a non-compete associated with requested releases, and then a grace period following that they’d be able to work in the states.”
We’ll have to see if WWE lets them out of their deals. They could always go into cost cutting mode and release even more people along with them. Only time will tell where they end up next, but things just didn’t seem to work out this time for them in WWE.
What’s your take on this potential release? Should WWE let them go? Sound off in the comments!
