WWE’s groundbreaking sale announcement went down this morning before a lot of fans were awake after their WrestleMania hangovers. Endeavor will buy 51% of the company, becoming controlling holders in the company, and WWE had a special meeting for talent to explain exactly what is going on.
WWE held an employee meeting before RAW this week, and we have some details. It seems that they had a lot to say about the purchase to settle any nervous tension.
Sean Sapp reported behind Fightful’s paywall that they told staff at the meeting that, “Endeavor isn’t going to be involved in the creative or production of the show.” The meeting was also headed up by Triple H, Nick Khan, and Frank Riddick.
There was also a talent meeting at 6 PM EST ahead of WWE Raw. Some Smackdown talent, and Raw talent that weren’t booked were not in attendance, as many were on a nearly ten day travel stretch.
WWE spoke about the record breaking WrestleMania numbers, and pressed that nothing would change under Endeavor. However, Vince was mentioned a few times when they listed the names of people in control, although there was nothing specific provided regarding Vince.
It was also noted that, “they did not take questions during the meeting.” It seems that they said everything they needed to with that meeting.
We’ll have to see how WWE changes in the next few weeks. Obviously, the company selling to Endeavor is a big deal, and it would be foolish to think that everything will keep running as usual.
What’s your take on WWE selling the company? Do you think WWE will go through a firing spree? Sound off in the comments!
