WWE WrestleMania 39 Sunday Results Coverage, Reactions & Highlights for April 2, 2023

It’s that time of the year for WWE to host its biggest Premium Live Event of the year, WrestleMania. This year’s show will take place from the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California on April 2, 2023. The results coverage for WWE WrestleMania will begin at 8:00 p.m. ET and there will be a kickoff show at 6:00 p.m. ET.

After the success of WrestleMania Saturday, fans are excited about the second night of action. One of the most anticipated matches of the show will take place tonight as Roman Reigns defends his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes. The complete match card for the show is as follows:

The opening package for the show airs.

The Miz is in the ring with Snoop Dogg. Miz welcomes the audience to WrestleMania. He says there is a new SmackDown Women’s Champion and new Tag Team Champions. Snoop then gets the show started.

Brock Lesnar vs. Omos

Omos’ music plays and he walks to the ring. Brock Lesnar’s theme song plays and he comes down to the ring.

The match starts and Lesnar tries to take him down but Omos tosses him. Lesnar goes for a german suplex but an elbow catches him. Omos then bodyslams Lesnar. Omos with another bodyslam.

Omos with a forearm to the back. Omos locks in the bear hug. He sends him in the corner. He hits another bodyslam. He locks in the bear hug. Lesnar fights out of it but is choke slammed. Cover! 1..2…kick out.

Brock fights back with a German suplex. He does it again and again. Lesnar picks up Omos but his back gives out. Omos tries to pick him up but he reverses it into the F-5 for the win.

Women’s WrestleMania Showcase Match: Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez vs. Natalya & Shotzi vs. Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler vs. Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville

Liv Morgan’s music plays and she comes out with Raquel Rodriguez. Natalya’s music plays and she comes out with Shotzi. Sonya Deville and Chelsea are the next participants out. Ronda Rousey’s theme song plays and she comes out with Shayna Baszler.

The match starts with Sonya kicking Liv in the face. Live with the knees to the face. Sonya tags out and Natalya plants Liv. Liv tags out and Raquel attacks Natalya. Natalya tags in Chelsea Green.

Green with a dropkick but it has no effect. Green and Sonya take down Raquel. Shotz tags in and attacks Chelsea. Shotzi sent outside. Raquel, Liv, and Natalya powerbomb Shayna.

Chelse and Sonya come in and clear the ring. Shotzi with a crossbody on them. She sends Sonya outside and hits a suicide dive on her. Chelsea also dives onto everyone on the outside. Raquel powerbombs Liv onto everyone else. Raquel tags in and hits the fallaway slam on Shotzi.

Raquel with a corkscrew elbow. Sonya tags in and takes Raquel down. She then hits her with the knee. Shotzi takes them down and hit their double-team move. Cover! 1…2…Chelsea breaks it up.

Natalya with a bodyslam and she locks in a double sharpshooter on Sonya and Green. Liv breaks it up.

Liv tags in and Shotzi slams her and Liv fights back with a codebreaker and hits oblivion. Ronda tags in and Shayna takes out Liv. Ronda locks in the armbar and Shotzi taps out.

Winner: Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler

Bobby Lashley’s music plays and he comes out with the Andre The Giant Trophy.

Xavier Woods is backstage with a few other WWE Superstars and he 2K simulated the Intercontinental Championship match 100 times in WWE 2k23 and he says that Drew McIntyre won 42% of the time.

Titus O’Neil is the special guest commentator for the next match.

Intercontinental Championship: Gunther (c) vs. Sheamus vs. Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre’s music hit and he makes his way out to the ring. Sheamus’ music plays next and he walks out to the ring. Ludwig Kaiser introduces Gunther. Gunther’s theme song plays and he walks to the ring.

The match begins and Drew hits Gunther with a claymore. Drew and Sheamus exchange strikes. Sheamus with a clothesline. He attacks McIntyre in the corner. Drew fights back with a clothesline.

Sheamus with a backbreaker. Gunther attacks him from behind and chops him and McIntyre. Gunther with a sleeper and he chops him down. Gunther sends McIntyre into the post.

He continues to chop Sheamus. He then kicks Sheamus. Sheamus fights back but Gunther hits a backbreaker and locks in a Bostom crab. Drew breaks it up. Gunther and Drew exchange chops.

Sheamus attacks both men. Drew now attacks both men. Gunther comes back and chops both men. He then kicks Sheamus.

Sheamus and McIntyre together perform the ten beats of the bodhran. Sheamus then hits the same on McIntyre. He goes for the Celtic Cross but Gunther kicks him in the head and hits a German suplex and a clothesline. Cover! 1…2…kick out.

Gunther hits another clothesline. Cover! 1…2….kick out. McIntyre with a diving elbow and a neck breaker on Gunther. He then hits a belly-to-belly suplex on Sheamus and follows it up with a future shock DDT on Gunther. He goes for the claymore and misses. Gunther hits a dropkick and a powerbomb. Cover! 1…2…kick out.

Gunther climbs the top rope but is stopped by Sheamus. He then hits the white noise from the top rope. Sheamus then hits the Celtic cross. Cover! 1…2…kick out. Sheamus with a Texas Cloverleaf.

McIntyre with a sleeper on Sheamus. He gets out of it and hits him with a knee. He hits Gunther with a knee also. Sheamus hits the brogue kick. Cover! 1…2..McIntyre breaks it up. Drew and Sheamus exchange strikes on the outside.

Drew with a headbutt on Sheamus. He then dives onto him. Drew goes for the Claymore but Sheamus hits the brogue kick. Cover! 1…2….kick out. Drew hits a claymore. Cover! 1..2…kick out.

Drew and Sheamus exchange strikes. Sheamus hits a brogue kick. Cover! 1..2…Gunther breaks it up and powerbombs Sheamus on Drew. He then powerbombs Drew McIntyre for the win.

RAW Women’s Championship: Bianca Belair (c) vs. Asuka

Asuka’s music plays and she makes her way to the ring. Bianca Belair’s music plays and she walks to the ring.

The match starts and Belair hits multiple dropkicks. Bianca hits a suplex. He goes for it again but Asuka escapes and kicks her. Asuka hits a running bulldog and a sliding knee. Cover! 1…2…kick out.

Asuka climbs the top rope but is stopped. Bianca with a spinebuster. Cover! 1…2….kick out. Bianca goes for a moonsault but Asuka catches her and tries to lock her in a triangle. She locks in the Asuka lock. Belair escapes and rolls out of the ring.

Asuka goes for an armbar but Bianca reverses into a powerbomb. She sends Asuka into the ring. Cover! 1…2…kick out.

Belair sent into the post. Asuka locks in a knee bar but Belair powers out and hits a back suplex. Belair goes for a moonsault but Asuka catches her into the ankle lock. Asuka with a dropkick from the top rope. Cover! 1…2…kick out.

Asuka kicks her in the face. Asuka kicks her in the chest. Asuka with a dropkick sends Belair into the post. Belair sends Asuka into the post. Belair hits a suplex on Asuka. Cover! 1…2…kick out.

Both women exchange strikes. They both attempt rollups but can’t get the win. Belair hits a bock buster. She then hits a moonsault. Cover! 1…2…kick out. Asuka with a knee strike but Belair knocks her down with a tackle.

She climbs the top rope but is stopped by Asuka. Asuka hits the codebreaker. Cover! 1..2….kick out. Belair slams Asuka into the post. She goes for the KOD but Asuka escapes. Asuka goes for the mist and misses. Belar goes for the KOD but Asuka escapes and locks in the armbar.

Belair powers out of it and hits the KOD for the win.

The Miz is in the ring with Snoop Dogg. Miz says it has been an incredible two nights and he announces the attendance numbers which is 81,395. He then announces that total audience across two nights which is 161,892.

He says he wants to get something off his chest. He says Snoop put him in a match against Pat McAfee. Snoop asks if he wants to do it again and he says no. Miz says he was caught off guard and blames Snoop for embarrassing him. Snoop says my bad and Miz says it is not good enough. He says this is his city and WrestleMania. Snoop says this is their city and WrestleMania.

Shane McMahon’s music plays and he comes out to the ring. Shane thanks the crowd. Snoop asks him to take care of Miz and asks for a referee.

Shane McMahon/Snoop Dogg vs. The Miz

Shane McMahon attacks Miz in the corner. Shane hurt his knee after doing a leapfrog. Snoop comes in and punches Miz. He asks if Shane is alright. He punches him again. Snoop hits the people’s elbow and pins The Miz.

Hell in a Cell Match: Edge vs. “The Demon” Finn Balor

Edge’s music plays and he walks to the ring. Finn Balor’s music hit and he makes his way to the ring.

The match begins and Edge punches Balor but it has no effect. Both men leave the ring and get a weapon. Edge hits Balor with a steel chair but it has no effect. Balor hits him with a kendo stick and knocks him out of the ring.

Balor stomps Edge on the outside. He then sends Edge into the steel cage. He sends Edge into the ring. Edge takes Balor down and attacks him he sends Balor into the cage. He grabs a couple of kendo sticks and hits Balor with it. Edge sends Balor into the steel cage.

Edge hits Balor with a kendo stick and traps him in the corner. Edge hits a dropkick on Balor. Edge gets a table from under the ring. He kicks Balor. Finn fights back and sends Edge into the steel steps.

Balor chops Edge multiple times. Edge with a flapjack. He then hits the impaler DDT. Balor with a slingblade. He dropkicks Edge sending him into the cage. He dropkicks Edge through the table. Balor throws a couple of steel chairs on Edge but he kicks Balor. He then hits a killswitch on Edge.

Edge goes for a spear but Balor kicks him and rolls him up. Edge plants Finn. Cover! 1….kick out. Edge gets a ladder from under the ring. He throws the ladder at Balor.

Referees are checking on Balor who is busted open. Edge goes for a powerbomb but Balor takes him down and stomps him. He hits the reverse DDT. Balor goes for the coup de grace and misses. Edge goes for the spear and hits the ladder. Balor rolls him up! 1….2….kick out.

Balor with a slingblade and a dropkick. He hits the coup de grace. Cover! 1….2….kick out. Balor climbs the ladder and Edge hits him with a kendo stick. Edge hits the Edgecution off the ladder. Cover! 1…2…kick out.

Edge grabs a table from under the ring. He sets it up in the ring. Balor hits Edge with a kendo stick and places him on the table. He then hits him with a chair. Balor climbs the cage and hits a coup de grace and misses. Edge hits a spear. Cover! 1…2…kick out.

Edge hits Balor with a kendo stick and a steel chair. He places a chair under Balor’s face. Edge then hits him with a con-chair-to and pins him.

Winner: Edge

Kayla is backstage and she interviews Bianca Belair who says it felt amazing to successfully defend her title. She says Asuka took her to her limit and credits her for being an incredible fighter. She says she is still the champion. The young dancers come in to celebrate with her.

They show the highlights of the Hall of Fame Ceremony. The Hall of Fame Class comes out in front of the crowd. Rey Mysterio’s music plays and he comes out and joins them on stage.

Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Match: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes’ theme song plays and he comes down to the ring. A bunch of pianists plays Roman Reigns’ theme song. Reigns’ music hit and he walks out to the ring.

Roman gets on the mic and asks the crowd to acknowledge him. The match begins and Cody hits an uppercut. Roman rolls out of the ring. Heyman is trying to motivate Reigns.

Reigns knocks Cody down with an elbow. He attacks Cody in the corner. Cody fights back with a dropkick. Cover! 1…kick out. Cody goes to work on Roman. He goes for a disaster kick but Roman catches him and hits a powerbomb. Cover! 1..2…kick out.

Reigns kicks him in the face. Reigns with a suplex. Cover! 1…kick out. He hits another suplex. Cody sends Roman outside the ring. He goes for a kick but is caught and planted on the apron.

Reigns throws Cody up the entrance ramp. He then bodyslams him on the ramp. Reigns calls Soli Sikoa to his side. Cody bodyslams Roman on the ramp. Reigns distracts the referee and Solo hits Cody with a steel chair.

Reigns hits a drive by. He sends Cody in the ring. Cover! 1….2….kick out. Cody hits the rope and Solo distracts him before Reigns hits him with a clothesline. Cover! 1…2..kick out.

Reigns sends Cody out of the ring. He places Cody on the announcer’s desk. He tries to powerbomb him but Cody reverses it and body-drops him through the second table.

He sends Roman in the ring. He hits him with an uppercut and a scoop slam. He then hits the Cody cutter. Cover! 1…2..kick out. Cody Rhodes hits a suicide dive on Roman. He sends Reigns back into the ring. Solo hits Reigns with the weight belt. The referee hears the sound and ejects Solo from the match.

Reigns takes the weight belt but Cody superkicks him and hits the Cross Rhodes. Cover! 1…2…kick out. Reigns sends Cody outside the ring but he holds the rope and tries to skin the cat. Reigns catches him and hits the Rock bottom. Cover! 1…2…kick out.

Reigns goes for the Superman punch but Cody sidesteps and hits the pedigree. Cover! 1…2….kick out. Cody goes for the disaster kick but Reigns hits him with the superman punch. Cover! 1…2….kick out.

Reigns goes for the spear but Cody rolls him up. 1…2….kick out. Cody then locks in the figure four leg lock. Reigns rolls over and Cody gets to the rope forcing Reigns to release the hold.

Both men exchange strikes. Reigns hung up on the rope. Cody dives off the top rope and misses. Reigns hits the spear. Cover! 1..2…kick out. Roman attacks Cody viciously. Roman locks in the guillotine on Cody. Cody fights out of the guillotine and attacks Roman.

Rhodes accidentally kicks the referee. Reigns hits the superman punch and Cody bounces off the rope and knocks down Reigns. The Usos enter the ring and superkick Cody. They hit the 1D on Cody.

Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens come in the ring and attacks The Usos. Owens hits the stunner and Sami hits the Helluva kick. The Usos enter the ring and brawl with Owens and Sami. Cover! 1….2….kick out.
