Vince McMahon has reportedly been more involved backstage at WrestleMania 39 than he has been in recent months, according to a report from PWInsider.
While it was widely expected that McMahon would be backstage at the event, given his attendance at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony, the report notes that the WWE Chairman was much more involved than he has been since he exited his role as head of creative last year.
McMahon apparently had an office backstage that was located next to the Gorilla position, and that he was heard “on the headsets early” in the show, providing feedback and asking questions.
McMahon was reportedly supervising the show and providing guidance, rather than simply making an appearance.
This comes after recent comments from WWE President Nick Khan, who stated earlier this week that McMahon is “not that involved” with the creative end of things.
It remains to be seen if McMahon’s involvement backstage at WrestleMania is just for the weekend, or if he is planning on taking a more hands-on role in creative going forward with the weekly shows. We will keep you updated.
