Ava, also known as Simone Johnson, has made her official in-ring debut for WWE during the Kickoff pre-show of NXT Stand & Deliver.
The daughter of WWE Legend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson had previously impressed with her mic work since joining The Schism on the October 25, 2022 edition of NXT. While her in-ring debut was lackluster, her potential in the squared circle has been noted by WWE officials.
Ava, who is just 21 years old, made her debut with an in-ring promo at the July 9, 2022 NXT live event in Orlando. She was announced as training at the Performance Center in February 2020 and then signed a WWE contract in May 2020.
Although she has been plagued with injuries, including undergoing her third knee surgery in September 2020, Ava was said to be the most-improved developmental talent in squats for a period of January to May 2021.
During her debut match at NXT Stand & Deliver, Ava spent some time in the ring with Thea Hail, but her performance was less than memorable. Her inexperience showed towards the end of the match, as she took Hail down with a sloppy slam before the match was won by The Schism.
As the daughter of The Rock, one of the most beloved and successful WWE Superstars of all time, Ava has big shoes to fill. However, she has expressed a desire to carve out her own path in the wrestling business and make a name for herself. Only time will tell if she has what it takes to make it to the top of the industry.
