Wrestling fans have been eagerly awaiting the potential return of CM Punk to AEW but Chris Jericho has shared his thoughts on the matter.
While appearing on The Mark Madden Show, Jericho was asked about Punk’s potential return to the company and Jericho without providing much detail on the matter he pointed out that AEW would “thrive and survive” with or without CM Punk.
“I’m not,” Jericho said when asked if he was on Punk’s Christmas card list. “But I wasn’t on Scott Hall’s Christmas card list or I wasn’t on Eric Bischoff’s Christmas card list. You don’t have to be best friends to co-exist. To me, that’s not really my wheelhouse. I’m not in charge of that. I’m sure there will be some answers to that pretty quickly, I would assume, either way. To us, AEW is going to thrive and survive with or without him. We’ll see what happens.”
This comes after Punk called Jericho a “stooge” in a now-deleted Instagram story where he called out the reporting on his foot injury and storyline with Jon Moxley. Jericho reportedly called Punk a locker room cancer after AEW All Out.
While Jericho didn’t offer any concrete information on whether or not Punk would return, he did make it clear that AEW would continue to thrive regardless.
Punk drew headlines prior to WrestleMania weekend when he sent Dax Harwood a text during the FTR live show saying he missed the fans. Whether or not this is an indication of his return to the ring remains to be seen, but fans will undoubtedly continue to speculate until an official announcement is made.
