Chris Jericho was AEW’s first big surprise signee, and he continues to shock and entertain AEW fans to this day. The Wizard is quite busy, and it seems that he will have a busy dance card for the next few months.

AEW and NJPW’s Forbidden Door 2 event is going down in June. It seems that they laid the groundwork for Jericho’s match at the event during last night’s Supercard of Honor event. Also, Jericho’s long stare back at Adam Cole on AEW Dynamite last week was a clear sign that a collision between the two is unavoidable.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer broke down Chris Jericho’s current situation. It seems that right now he has two big opponents lined up for him, Adam Cole and Hiroshi Tanahashi.

They just kept, ‘Jericho, Jericho, Jericho,’ you know, and he beats Jericho’s guy, and Jericho is probably with Adam Cole on the next [AEW] pay-per-view, and you know Jericho just loves Tanahashi, working with him. I think out of all the New Japan guys, he’s actually his favorite to work with, and they’ve only worked once, and it was in Japan.

They’ve never done a match in the United States, so I felt like watching and listening to the commentary, that because they kept bringing it up then that’s the direction that they’re going.

Chris Jericho’s opponents get a valuable chance to work with someone of his caliber. It seems that his next two opponents might be in a league of their own as well.

Adam Cole’s return to AEW after a career-threatening concussion was a big moment for his career. A match with Chris Jericho after that could be a cherry on top of his big comeback. Also, Tanahashi coming to America for any match will be a very special occasion, and it might just go down at Forbidden Door 2.

What’s your take on these opponents for Chris Jericho? Should AEW use him more? Sound off in the comments!
