Batista came from being a bodyguard to Reverend D-Von to emerging as one of the biggest stars of WWE. The Animal rose to prominence during his stint in Evolution and later on carved out his own legacy by becoming a top marquee attraction for WWE. It was heavily rumored that Batista was going to enter the Hall of Fame this year, however, that did not happen and current WWE superstar Titus O’Neil revealed the reason for it.
Batista had two successful runs in WWE, the first that ended in 2010 and the other in 2014. The former World Heavyweight came back once again in 2019 to wrestle his final match against Triple H at WrestleMania 35, which he ended up losing and taking the final bow from wrestling.
The Animal was later announced to be the headliner inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2020. However, the pandemic derailed those plans and Batista stated that he would choose to accept the honor at a later time.
With WrestleMania 39 taking place in Hollywood this year, it was speculated that Batista would be headlining this year’s Hall of Fame class due to being an A-list actor. However, he was left out of the festivities and now, Titus O’Neil recently revealed during an interview with Wrestling News. co, that Dave was not in the country at this time, filming for My Spy 2 in Cape Town, and that was the reason for him not going into the Hall of Fame this year.
“He’s in South Africa right now, so it would be hard for him to make the actual ceremony. He’s shooting a movie. He’s over in Cape town, South Africa, shooting My Spy 2.”
While Batista’s Hollywood commitments kept him away from entering the Hall of Fame this year, there is no doubt that he deserves a spot in immortality. It is just a matter of time before Batista takes his rightful place as a proud member of the WWE Hall of Fame.
