Stephanie McMahon’s departure from WWE earlier this year came as a surprise to many fans, and now WWE CEO Nick Khan has spoken out about her departure and a possible return.
Khan recently appeared on CNBC’s Closing Time and was asked about Stephanie’s departure and the possibility of her returning to the company in the future. He said that Stephanie did a fantastic job while working as Co-CEO and Chairwoman of the Board earlier in 2022 and that she is welcome back anytime she chooses.
According to Khan, Stephanie was already on a leave of absence when he and Vince McMahon called her back to work in January of this year. Despite this, she did “phenomenal work” throughout the company.
Khan added that Stephanie seems to be in a great place right now and that he believes she went back to do whatever she was thinking about doing during her leave of absence in 2022. However, Khan emphasized that the decision to return to WWE is ultimately up to Stephanie.
“We would always love to have her as part of WWE,” Khan said. “The time would need to be right for her, and I’m not sure if she’s there yet.”
Stephanie’s departure came as WWE Executive Chairman Vince McMahon returned to work following his controversial “retirement” in July 2022. Stephanie had been on a leave of absence to spend time with family when she returned to work amid the investigation into her father.
