Michael Cole is a true veteran of WWE, who has been part of the company for over 25 years now. For being such a consistent worker, fans now consider him the voice of WWE in many ways. That being said, fans also wonder when he will retire for good. Now it seems Michael Cole himself has revealed when he plans on retiring.

While speaking on the Sports Media with Richard Richard Deitsch podcast, Michael Cole talked about the possibility of retiring for good. This is something he’s thought about for years.

After admitting that his family doesn’t even watch WWE, Michael Cole acknowledged that he often gets asked about his retirement plans and shared that his goal is to continue for the next four years, which would mark his 30th year in the industry.

Michael Cole emphasized that he is not willing to compromise his quality of work for the sake of continuing his career indefinitely. He asserted that he will retire before he starts to slip and become a shadow of his former self.

While Michael Cole expressed his respect for older colleagues who continue to work in the industry, he personally does not want to be a 75 or 80-year-old man working week in and week out.

“People ask me all the time, ‘How long are you gonna do this for?’ I’ll tell you one thing, you know, 30 years would be a really cool goal. That’s four years from now. But I can promise you this, I will get out before I slip. I’m not going to be, and no disrespect to anyone else, but I’m not going to be a 75 or 80 year old man doing this week in and week out. I busted my ass.

I made a really good living and I want to be able to get out while the going is good and still be able to enjoy the rest of my life. I don’t want to be a shell of myself. I don’t want to be that, ‘Man, that guy used to be good. He’s not good anymore.’ I don’t want to be that person.”

Michael Cole also previously stated that it felt like a kick in the gut when pat McAfee had to leave his role as Smackdown commentator. We will have to wait and see when Michael Cole will finally retire.
