Vince McMahon has been the be-all, end-all of WWE ever since he bought the company from his father and several other co-owners in the early eighties. That being said, WWE’s controlling shareholder doesn’t have a say in his developmental brand.

Vince McMahon brought himself back to WWE less than a year after announcing his retirement. The billionaire reinstated himself to the Board of Directors and that led to the exit of several top executives.

As previously reported, Vince McMahon’s return to WWE wasn’t met with much enthusiasm and many believed the boss had secretly returned to the creative ahead of WWE’s biggest event of the year.

During a recent media scrum for NXT Stand & Deliver, Shawn Michaels was asked if Vince McMahon had been involved with NXT in any capacity since he returned to the company. The Heartbreak Kid made it clear that Vince didn’t have any say in the white and gold brand.

“He doesn’t have any sway, at least right now [laughs]. We haven’t seen him, I haven’t seen him this weekend. I’ve been out here since Monday, doing the tryouts with NXT, which is another subject. It’s WrestleMania, Vince is the one who built all of this. I understand the way everybody feels, but this is still the brand he built. For him to want to come out here and be part of this show, I think is a perfectly natural thing. I kind of hope that he does. I would like to see him this weekend. I haven’t seen him in quite some time, just to say hello. I hope, like Hunter and all of us, I hope he’s proud of what we’ve put on here this weekend. It’s been a huge success so far.”

WWE CEO Nick Khan stated that Vince McMahon had embraced Triple’s control of the creative department. Khan further stated that Vince had only returned to oversee media rights negotiations and potential sale talks.

Do you agree with Shawn Michaels that Vince McMahon doesn’t have a say in NXT? How would you rate Shawn Michaels’ booking of the white and gold brand? Sound off in the comments!
