Roman Reigns Respects How Sami Zayn Navigated WWE’s Creative Process

Roman Reigns has been on the top of the mountain for over two years in WWE. His dominant title reign saw many challengers who fell short, and the Head of the Table continued his road to the top. Reigns’ stable, The Bloodline, was also a major part of his success. Moreover, that included Sami Zayn who proved his loyalty to the champion time and time again, and Roman had some big words for his ally-turned-adversary.

Sami Zayn had been constantly pursuing Roman Reigns to join his Bloodline for weeks last year. After much deliberation, the Tribal Chief and the other members accepted him as a part of their family, christening him as ‘The Honorary Uce.’

Sami Zayn’s work spoke volumes and his association with The Bloodline was widely appreciated for months. However, things took a drastic turn when Zayn finally snapped after being constantly berated by Roman Reigns and his family and betrayed the Bloodline at the Royal Rumble event in January.

Despite Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn now standing on the opposite end of things, the Undisputed Champion had some big words of praise for him. During an interview with ESPN, Roman admired Sami’s work in the last year and even stated that he was the perfect choice to portray ‘The Honorary Uce,’ with no one else who could have done it better.

“I was entertained by him when he did the Jackass stuff and really respected the way he navigated that creative [process]. I believe I can do work of this level with… other guys, they’d just be different. It wouldn’t be the same. It would be a different character, a different angle, a different layer. Nobody would be able to be the ‘Honorary Uce’ other than Sami Zayn. He’s endearing in that way where you want something good for him. Even if he doesn’t deserve it, you still want it for him.”

Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns would eventually collide at WWE Elimination Chamber in a high-stakes title match. Reigns would walk out victorious, but Zayn was appreciated for his performance and now marches forward to WrestleMania 39 where he will team up with Kevin Owens to take on Roman’s cousins, The Usos for the Undisputed WWE tag team championships.
