Brian Cage inked a deal with AEW and came in with a ton of hype behind him. Then things quickly fizzled as it became obvious that Tony Khan didn’t really have a plan for him. Now, it seems hat his deal with AEW is up.
Brian Cage’s contract with AEW has been a topic of conversation within the fan base. With ROH Supercard of Honor coming up, that might be his last date with Tony Khan. The Embassy, which is Brian Cage, Kaun, and Toa Liona are set to defend their six-man tag team titles against AR Fox, Blake Christian, and Metalik.
Dave Meltzer spoke about Brian Cage briefly during Wrestling Observer Radio. He noted that Brian Cage is actually not under contract with AEW. However, he agreed to finish out his matches with the company.
Brian Cage is finishing up. It’s what I hear is that he’s finishing up, unless they sign him to a new deal. If they do, then he’s not finishing up. His deal has expired, but he has agreed to do business and drop the belts on the way out, if he isn’t signing a new deal.
We will have to see what the situation is with Brian Cage in a couple of months. Right now, it seems that he is in a fine position to talk with other companies about his future in pro wrestling.
Only time will tell what Brian Cage decides to do. After all, he has a lot of potential that AEW did not tap into. With WWE going through their own transition as the company prepares for a sale, this is a very interesting time all over the pro wrestling world.
