WrestleMania 39 is going to be the biggest event that WWE can muster. With a sale predicted for the middle of this year, it might be the last chance WWE has to show what they can do under new ownership as well. The location of the show of shows was picked for a reason as well.
WWE was supposed to hold WrestleMania in SoFi Stadium years ago, but they moved the event to Tampa instead. The pandemic is now “over” enough, so live events can continue, and they are going to run the massive Los Angeles stadium this weekend.
Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that WWE’s picked Los Angeles for WrestleMania 39’s location on purpose. With media rights deals coming up, this will give them a great chance to load the crowd with people they want to impress.
Those in the company that we’ve spoken to say they expect “business to pick up” in April, specifically after WrestleMania. We’ve been told by several in WWE that having WrestleMania in Los Angeles around the time of a potential sale and rights fee renewals was a positive strategic situation for the company.
WrestleMania 39 is sure to be a massive showcase for WWE, and the location could do a lot to help things out as well. The event will be star-studded, and the Hollywood theme could do a lot to encourage more money during media rights talks.
Only time will tell where fans will tune in to see WWE programming in a year from now, but WWE is doing everything they can to secure the biggest bag possible.
