Goldberg established himself as a major force in WCW before he eventually made his way to WWE. Despite previously expressing remorse for not fully embracing professional wrestling earlier in his career, he has since made amends and returned to the ring six years ago as a part-time performer. He also became a free agent recently, and now it seems an AEW star wants to face Goldberg in a retirement match.
Following a 12-year hiatus from the ring, Goldberg made a triumphant return to WWE at Survivor Series 2016, where he squared off against Brock Lesnar. However, this was not the first time the powerhouse had made a spectacular entrance, as he had previously demolished The Rock in his debut match in 2003. Despite going on to clinch the World Heavyweight Title, Goldberg’s reign left little impact in the annals of wrestling history.
Goldberg hasn’t been seen on WWE television since his loss at the hands of Roman Reigns during the 2022 Elimination Chamber premium live event. In fact, Goldberg is now officially a free agent after his WWE contract expired.
Swerve Strickland took to Twitter earlier today to respond to a tweet about the WWE Hall of Famer wanting a retirement match. Strickland made it clear that he wants to be the one to retire Goldberg.
Give em to me
AEW President Tony Khan is also paying close attention to Goldberg’s free agent status. We’ll have to wait and see whether Goldberg will have his retirement match in AEW in the future.
