WWE’s NXT brand has a lot going on as they head toward Stand & Deliver. That being said, one rumor got a bit out of hand this week, because WWE was not planning on plugging Stand & Deliver on RAW this week.
Grayson Waller has been engaged in a rivalry with Johnny Gargano that became personal last week on NXT when the former attacked Gargano and laid him out in front of his family. Despite the attack, Gargano competed on RAW against Dominik Mysterio. One of the rumors headed into the match was that Grayson Waller would make his presence felt on the show, but that never happened.
According to Fightful Select, Grayson Waller was never scheduled to be on RAW despite the rumors. Several sources at the show revealed that Waller was not brought in and was never going to be part of the creative plans for the show.
The first time that WWE creative had heard about Waller’s rumored involvement was when they were asked about it, which they quickly shot down.
“A rumor regarding Grayson Waller ran rampant on social media on Monday.
Ahead of WWE Raw, several Twitter accounts perpetuated a rumor that NXT star Grayson Waller was to appear on the March 20 episode of Raw. With Waller set to face Johnny Gargano at NXT Stand and Deliver, this led many to speculate that Waller would be involved with Gargano on Raw. However, Gargano’s match with Dominik Mysterio came and went with no involvement from Waller.
Not only did Waller not appear on WWE Raw, he was never scheduled to. We spoke to numerous sources at Raw that said that Waller was not brought in, was not involved in the creative plans, and was not set for the show in any capacity for March 20. The first that creative had heard of it is when they were asked if the rumors were true, which were quickly shot down,” per Fightful Select.
Grayson Waller is set to face Johnny Gargano at NXT Stand & Deliver next weekend. The match came about a couple of weeks ago when Waller challenged Shawn Michaels to a match at the show. Instead, Michaels give him a more formidable opponent in Gargano.
Since then, the two men have taken shots at each and this rivalry escalated pretty quickly, especially after Waller’s assault last week. Stay tuned to Ringside News as we bring you similar stories.
