Joey Janela is one of the most controversial wrestlers in the world. He is known for his hardcore style and his willingness to take risks in the ring. This is what helped him sign a contract with AEW in 2019.
During his time with AEW, Joey Janela had some memorable matches with many of the company’s top stars like Kenny Omega, Jon Moxley, and Darby Allin. However, his star power soon fizzled out and his time with the company came to an end last year.
Following his departure from AEW, Joey Janela worked for several independent promotions such as Game Changer Wrestling and DDT Pro Wrestling. He has been a regular main eventer for GCW in recent memory, a company where he calls home.
Joey Janela recently took to Twitter to reflect on his AEW run and celebrate his independence in GCW. He also pledged loyalty to the promotion.
“I appreciate your enthusiasm but I get to walk to the beat of my own drum, make my money, travel the world monthly. TV is TV. I’m not making a million dollars but the freedom is wonderful. I signed to wrestle [Kenny] Omega and got 2 matches out of it that fans love still! I’m GCW 4 life!”
Janela’s next big match will be at GCW’s The Collective, a series of shows taking place over WrestleMania week. He will face Ueno again at GCW vs DDT show on April 8th. Until then, stay tuned to Ringside News.
