WWE Hall Of Famer Eric Bischoff is a true veteran of professional wrestling. Due to his veteran status, his opinion is still taken seriously, for the most part. That being said, Bischoff has largely been critical of AEW. However, Bischoff mocked fans who believe AEW has great storytelling.

As many people are aware by now, Tony Khan and Eric Bischoff do not necessarily have the best of relationships. The two had a falling out back in 2021, and it has not really gotten any better.

Last year, the WWE Hall Of Famer even called AEW a ‘vanity project.’ In fact, Easy E even repeatedly criticized AEW for having poorly crafted storylines and having matches for the sake of it.

While there are many ways to tell a story inside the ring, Eric Bischoff feels like WWE is excelling with their storytelling methods lately, especially when they are compared to AEW lately.

While speaking on the 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff mentioned that “wrestling is getting really hot again.” He mentioned how Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens’ storyline has been well received by fans.

Bischoff called AEW’s approach to storytelling “just a promo with great matches.” By his definition, “a story has structure,” so “if a fan thinks [AEW is] doing great story, they don’t know what storytelling is.”

Eric Bischoff also believes NXT will outperform AEW in ratings soon enough. We will have to wait and see whether 2023 be a year where AEW will improve their storylines.
