Jim Ross was brought into AEW to be the voice of the company, but he quickly became meme worthy with his frequent on-screen botches. Ross didn’t even realize he said “WWE Dynamite” until way later, but he carried on with the company regardless. Good ole JR was moved off Dynamite, and he is a voice on Rampage now, but the WWE Hall of Famer wasn’t around this week.
Jim Ross commented that he missed last week’s AEW programming because of travel. His busy schedule didn’t allow for him to be on the road for Tony Khan. It turns out that he had a good reason for that travel.
Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio that Jim Ross had treatment this week for that radiation wound from his cancer. Thankfully, he is cancer free, but that treatment left a bad mark on JR.
“Jim Ross was not on last night’s show. He was getting treatment on Tuesday and Thursday for the radiation wound he had when he was getting radiation therapy for the skin cancer.
“He told me that he will not be missing any more Fridays, so he’ll be back Wednesday. This was just a tough trip, and he was having treatment done, and that’s why Paul Wight was in there (instead of) Jim Ross.”
Hopefully, Jim Ross is feeling much better now and he can make the trip for AEW television for a long time to come. You never know what the road will throw at you, but Jim Ross seems to have no intention of hanging up his hat just yet.
