AEW has a few people backstage who are retired from in-ring competition, but the company uses them in other ways. Pat Bucks has been with AEW since April 2022 when he was released from WWE, but he wasn’t signed on to wrestle. That changed last night.

AEW held their House Rules event in Troy, Ohio last night, and Pat Buck was on hand as a surprise. Buck surprised fans as he took on QT Marshall.

The match ended when Powerhouse Hobbs showed up at ringside to distract Buck, allowing Marshall to pick up the victory. It was still a big surprise for fans.

Although WWE teased Pat Buck having a match in their company, it didn’t happen. This was even after Nia Jax had that storyline arch with him. It seems that AEW didn’t have any qualms about letting Pat Buck have another match for this special occasion.

Pat Buck certainly surprised fans at the AEW House Rules event. We will have to see if this is the only time he will lace up his boots for Tony Khan’s company, but he is certainly available backstage if they need him.
