The life of a professional wrestler is one full of hardship and difficulties, as they put their bodies on the line every week for the entertainment of fans. Talent in AEW are certainly no exception. Now it seems a veteran AEW star hinted at ending his in-ring career.
Christopher Daniels, with a career spanning over three decades, has suggested that he may be considering retirement from in-ring competition. Despite his proven success in wrestling promotions around the world, Daniels has acknowledged that he is currently facing challenges inside the ring.
As the AEW Head of Talent Relations, Daniels recently spoke to WrestleZone about his thoughts on retirement. At this point, he approaches each match as if it could be his last.
Talking about his upcoming AAA Lucha Libre World Cup appearance, Daniels noted that it could very well be his last match. This implies that he may be considering stepping away from in-ring competition in the near future.
“It could be my last match on Sunday. It could be my last one, and I understand that. Part of the challenge now is to wrestle like it could be my last match. My spirit is willing; sometimes, my flesh is weak, and that’s the real situation.
As long as my spirit is strong, I’m going to keep doing this as long as I can. I don’t think this is the last time that I’ll get an opportunity to work for AAA. I have a good relationship with the company itself, and I look forward to Sunday, and (we’ll) see what happens. Then, after we win, anything is possible.”
Despite his potential retirement from in-ring competition, Christopher Daniels is scheduled to compete on the March 19 show alongside Sam Adonis and Johnny Caballero (formerly known as John Morrison). They will face off against La Estrella, Takuma Nishikawa, and Kuukai in the first round of a tournament.
Christopher Daniels just competed at the AEW House Rules live event on March 18th, where he unsuccessfully challenged Powerhouse Hobbs for the TNT Title. This suggests that Daniels is still committed to performing at the highest level and may not be retiring from wrestling just yet.
