The Dudley Boyz are one of the most popular tag teams in pro wrestling history, with their legacy spanning multiple companies. Their most notable run was with WWE, but they were already ECW legends before that time even started. It turns out that there might be more to their story.
While speaking to Bill Apter, D-Von Dudley didn’t close the door for a possible Dudley Boyz reunion down the line. It turns out that the WWE Hall of Famers have actually talked about it.
“Me and Bubba have talked about it. It’s not unheard of. I did have major back surgery. I just took the X-rays today. That’s gonna be sent to my doctor to see whether everything is good. I actually take my MRI tomorrow to make sure that the fusion that took place, everything is still intact. Once I get the okay from that, within the next week or two, I will be able to determine whether I’m gonna get back in the ring.”
In ECW, the Dudley Boyz were part of a larger stable known as the Dudley Family, which included a number of wrestlers who claimed to be their kayfabe half-brothers. Their gimmick was that of a group of violent, foul-mouthed brothers who would attack anyone who crossed them.
The Dudley Boyz quickly became the most famous members of their ECW family and gained a reputation for their brutal matches, particularly those that involved the use of tables. They soon branched off, and only really associated with their half-brother Spike during their fabled WWE run.
After making a name for themselves in ECW, the Dudley Boyz signed with WWE in 1999. They quickly became one of the most popular acts on the roster, thanks to their entertaining matches and their catchphrase, “D-Von, get the tables!”
Only time will tell if D-Von ever gets the tables again, but the door is apparently not closed for something down the line for the Dudley Boyz. At this time, D-Von is retired from in-ring competition, but Bully Ray is still taking bumps in the ring.
