Rey Mysterio was revealed as the first inductee in the 2023 WWE Hall of Fame. This announcement was a big surprise, and Konnan will reportedly induct him. That being said, WWE’s issues with MLW almost threw a wrench in those plans.
WWE has a lot of things going on, including a lawsuit with Major League Wrestling. It seems that MLW is going to continue with their lawsuit against WWE, despite all the legal hurdles in their way.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer opened up a bit about Rey Mysterio’s WWE Hall of Fame induction. He also revealed that WWE was only okay with Konnan inducting him if he isn’t under MLW contract.
They said it would be okay, unless he’s under contract with MLW, so because of the lawsuit. They’re not gonna attempt to use him, because that would loook bad with the lawsuit. He’s not under contract with MLW that I know, so he’s doing it.
Konnan showing up at the WWE Hall of Fame could bring a lot of history to Rey Mysterio’s storyline with Dominik Mysterio. After all, Dominik considers Konnan like an uncle, and many fans have also theorized that the Prison Dom gimmick is an homage to Konnan.
We will have to see what happens in this situation, but WrestleMania weekend will certainly be an exciting one for the Mysterio family. For more on this story, and everything else going on in the pro wrestling world, keep it tuned to Ringside News.
